Gianmarco Mangiaterra is an Assistant Professor in General Microbiology at the University of Urbino.
He has experience in the characterization of antibiotic resistance in clinically relevant pathogens and in environmental reservoirs. Moreover, he has matured an expertise in the detection of bacterial persistent cells developed under stressful conditions, through the application of molecular culture-independent techniques. From the beginning of 2022 he joined the group at University of Urbino, investigating the genetic manipulation of Staphylococcus aureus and setting the experimental conditions to grow the pathogen in iron depleted media.
