Omar De Bei is a postdoctoral fellow. He obtained his PhD from the Department of Food and Drug, University of Parma where he worked on the characterization of the interaction between the Staphylococcus aureus hemophore IsdB and human hemoglobin as a novel antimicrobial target. He acquired a solid background in biochemical and biophysical techniques during his MSc thesis and early PhD, then he started a formative path toward structural biology during his PhD secondments. His project involves applying cryo-EM single particle analysis to further investigate the molecular mechanism of iron acquisition by S. aureus.
